This Easter song tells the story of Jesus' crucifixion and ultimate resurrection.

It begins with Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, and follows His journey to resurrection, i.e. being left friend-less when his disciples deserted him, Pilate giving in to the crowd's demands to crucify Jesus, and Jesus' crucifixion and wonderful resurrection! The chorus repeatedly affirms that Jesus went through all of this because of his great love for all. "He didn't have to go, but He loved us so." The lyrics may be considered quite graphic in some verses which is intentional so that singers and listeners can understand something of what Jesus went through so that we can come to Him.

This sheet music version is written for piano/organ and guitar. It is written in a lower key to support singing voices that would rather not be 'peeping' in the rafters, and transitions from F major to G major for the last verse and choruses. This version would be ideal for a solo singer guitarist or duo, and ideally should be sung with feeling and reflection. This song is best performed by making it your own via pauses, increasing the tempo in places, and slowing it down in others. I will add a performed mp3 version soon.
