Product Description

Made famous by Survivor, this song is famously associated with the Rocky franchise, notably released with 1982s Rocky III. Sylvester Stallone (who starred and directed the film) originally approached Queen to use Another One Bites the Dust for the film, who denied him use of the song. The songs lyrics (and title) were inspired by dialogue from the film, and the riff was conceived through matching the punches in the boxing scenes. This song is notable for its motivating narrative, as suggested by one of the songs writers Frank Sullivan, who felt that people related to the message of self-empowerment.

This arrangement of the song is made for school rock bands in mind. The key has been changed to B minor (the original is in C minor) to allow both keys and guitarists a better chance of playing the chords. Guitar part 1 has the muted picking riff, and open chords for the lower level players. Where need be, please feel free to adapt the rhythm to quavers as opposed to semiquavers if it helps the pulse.

Guitar part 2 has the main riff and guitar parts heard throughout (minus the muted picking riff), for intermediate musicians. Feel free to include the picking riff for guitar part 2 should you have a smaller band, or require a stronger sense of pulse throughout.

Keep the bass playing as staccato as possible, and experiment with the use of a pick. Bassists can feel free to add fills in where possible (stick to minor pentatonic).

The drums are fairly similar to the original recording, and once again, adapt where needed for less experienced players. Aim to keep the pulse as solid as possible!
