Spilling out onto the page over a weekend, Hemos Acabado (loosely translated as "Were Finished") was composed for the Assai Quartet after a comment at a performance was made that "we need a fun and original encore piece". Just so, this up-beat Latin-style work was composed for the group. It quickly became a favourite with players and audiences and was (for obvious pronunciation reasons!) subsequently affectionately nick-named the Avocado".

This orchestration for woodwind quintet completed by the composer in 2025 captures the cheerful nature of the original work and includes percussive effects by the players where the guitarist tapped the body of the guitar - creating another rhythmic dimension to the work. Recorded by the Assai Quartet on the album Origin, the original version of Hemos Acabado is free to listen to on YouTube and various streaming platforms.
