Product Description

Samuel Wesley (1766-1837) was an influential English composer and organist, known for his efforts to introduce the music of J.S. Bach to England. He was the son of Charles Wesley, the famous hymn writer, and the nephew of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism.

Wesley began composing at a young age, publishing Eight Lessons for the Harpsichord at just 11 years old, and he became one of the finest organists and extemporizers of his time. His notable works include symphonies, concerti, services, anthems, and motets, with Exultate Deo and In exitu Israel standing out.

He also collaborated with K.F. Horn to publish an English edition of Bachs Das Wohltemperierte Klavier (The Well-Tempered Clavier). Wesleys contributions to music were not limited to composition; he was also a respected conductor and lecturer.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
