Cécile Galos was born Marie Cécile Larreguy in Paris in 1821 and died in Bordeaux in 1903. She was a French pianist and composer, leaving behind a modest output, but not very much else is known about her life and work. "Le Lac de Côme" (Lake Como) is the sixth of a set of nocturnes, published in 1876 for solo piano in the fashionable 'salon' style of the time and is one of her most popular pieces, sometimes credited, mistakenly, under the name 'Giselle Galos'. Arranged for concert band for the first time as part of an ongoing project to bring more music by women composers into the worldwide repertoire. #ArrangeMeGoals2023
