Masterpiece Rondeau from Abdalezer/Henry Purcell
3- 5 Octave Handbells
arr. Ken Litton
Henry Purcell is widely regarded as one of England's most important composers, perhaps only surpassed by Ralph Vaughan Williamsas well as an influence on composers like Benjamin Britten, who used it as the basis for his Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra.
This scholarly edition of the piece from the the larger work, Abdalezer is scored for 3 - 5 octaves of English handbells by Ken Litton, a veteran of nearly 50 of handbell playing, directing, arranging and composing.
The middle section, omitted from many versions lends a nice contrast to the main theme and the duration comes in at under 2:30 even at reduced tempi, making it ideally for preludes or an opener for a concert or after the interval/intermission.
