This is an arrangement of the hook for PrKK students. To be sung with the children's book, "C is for Country" by Lil Nas X

  • Introduce book author, show picture of Lil Nas X
  • Play instrumental backing track as you read the book (+6 using Transposer)
  • Have children draw the shape of the letter on the ground or tracing a card. Every 4 letters, teacher sings the melody
  • As you continue, have students trace the letter on their own body or on a friends back or arm (ask for consent first)
  • Encourage students to join you in singing
  • Children make shapes of alphabet with body
  • For PreK, do parts of the book for each 30 min lesson, either of the book or ½.
  • Extension
    • Make list of other animals and actions they make (e.g., cat, scratch)
    • Practice singing chorus with animals and actions; older kids can do this with a partner. Younger kids do whole group
      • A: Gonna take my _[noun]__ to the old town road, gonna _[action]_ till I cant no more (repeat)
      • B: Move like that animal
