Product Description
The thirteen piano pieces of Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood) Op 15 are among Robert Schumann's most iconic and popular works. The pieces are not so much for children to play but, rather, for adults to play while reminiscing about their own childhood or while thinking about an idealized childhood from the 19th Century. Schumann mainly was thinking in terms of four contrapuntal parts in these pieces, which is why they work so well for a woodwind quartet.
The depth and range of emotions in the pieces are extraordinary, especially considering how short they are. The exact center of the collection, No. 7, Träumerei, is perhaps the most famous of all of the pieces. The difficulty levels of the pieces range from intermediate to advanced, and can be played by students and professionals alike. The duration of the entire collection is about 18 minutes, but the pieces can be excerpted and played in smaller collections. The sample audio is that of pieces No. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 8, and the audio was created by Aria Player inside of Finale music software. Inquiries about these or other arrangements by Christopher Kies may be directed to christopherkies.com. All performance parts are included with the scores.
