HERE COMES THE SUN(The Beatles) - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensemble
Derek Hasted writes "It wasnt just the song-writing team of Lennon and McCartney that produced fantastic, memorable classics for The Beatles and countless Cover artists. Here Comes The Sun, written by George Harrison, has a great appeal with audiences of all ages. My arrangement has shapes and notes familiar to guitarists everywhere, plus the occasional 3+3+3+3+2+2 rhythm (see bar 14) and a really irregular (but easy to play) rhythm in the bridge section.
Guitar 4 is tuned to 6=D to make the D chords really come alive.
Guitar 2s bar 14 can be played on two strings in 5th position, but if you have large hands, take it up into seventh and you can place the 3 notes on 3 different strings so they ring on.
This is a joyous piece for a concert, and my arrangement contains all the sections of the original track, and in the same key too.
There are some upper mordents on the score where George bends the note. If you play my arrangement on Classical Guitars, a mordent will work well, but on steel-strung guitars, a bend will work even better.
I actually arranged this piece on the Winter Solstice 2024, knowing that the Summer Sun is officially on its way now ...
I hope you enjoy playing this piece!"
