Product Description

The Grande Valse Brillante in E flat major, Op. 18, was composed by Frédéric Chopin in 1833 and published in 1834. This was the first waltz for solo piano that he composed, although before 1834 he had written at least sixteen waltzes that were destroyed or, some, published posthumously. Chopin also gave the title (in French) Grande Valse Brillante to the next three waltzes Op. 34, published in 1838.

In 1909, the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky made an orchestral arrangement of this waltz for the ballet Les Sylphides, commissioned by Sergei Diaghilev. Other composers orchestrated this waltz for the same ballet, such as Aleksandr Grechaninov, Gordon Jacob, Roy Douglas and Benjamin Britten.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
