Product Description

A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square is a standard that is a bit obscure, however if you listen to recordings by Nat King Cole and the solo piano version by the Amazing Bud Powell, you will notice what a unique tune it is. Although it follows the standard AABA form, the A sections are 10 measures each
( 8 + 2 ). The way the melody is written makes it hard to notice the extra 2 bars unless you are counting.

I wrote a different accompaniment for each of the A sections. Although the melody is the same, I used octave displacement, deceptive cadences, and substitute chords to differentiate the three A sections. After the ending I improvised a Coda which went longer than planned. It makes for an interesting if not conventional ending. Enjoy!
