Sonatina, by Vagner Ferreira
I. Prelude
II. Elegy in memoriam Camargo Guarnieri
III. Toccata
The Sonatina for piano, composed by Vagner Ferreira in 2024, is an example of his creativity and technique. This work is divided into three movements: Prelude, Elegy in memoriam Camargo Guarnieri, and Toccata, each presenting unique characteristics that combine musical traditions with an exploration of new expressions. The Prelude, marked by a "With joy" movement, displays a light and dynamic style, while the Elegy pays homage to the Brazilian composer Camargo Guarnieri, highlighting a more reflective and melancholic tone. The Toccata ends the sonatina with vigor and energy, reflecting the influence of more complex and challenging rhythms.
The work is dedicated to the pianist Flávio Augusto, who made his first worldwide recording especially to be released on the channel of the Brazilian Piano Institute - IPB.
