Product Description

This little collection of piano pieces is intended to get even the youngest beginner pianist playing melodies that they will recognise, right away, using all five fingers. To do this it relies heavily on finger numbers, as a way into playing the melodies. Most of the pieces use the Middle C position for both thumbs, but there is one alteration at the end of the collection for students to try.

Right- and left-hand parts are given, but it is entirely at the teachers discretion how much to encourage the student to try. In many cases the left hand parts are very simple. Where relevant, lyrics are given, which is a good aid for helping the students begin to understand rhythm. It is expected that the student will rely heavily on the finger-numbers, but the full notation is provided as a way to gently introduce them to the concept of reading music.

Melodies included: Jingle Bells, Mary Had A Little Lamb, Oh When The Saints, Incy Wincy Spider (also known as Itsy Bitsy Spider), New World (Theme from Dvorak Symphony No. 9), Ode To Joy (from Beethoven Symphony No. 9).
