This is a tribute arrangement to David Bowie. David Bowie was a groundbreaking musician, singer, and actor known for his innovative contributions to rock music and his ability to constantly reinvent his artistic persona, most notably through characters like Ziggy Stardust. His eclectic style and exploration of themes such as identity, love, and alienation have left a lasting impact on popular culture, influencing countless artists across various genres.
This tune has been featured in the movies 'The Martian' (2015), 'Lightyear'(2022) and 'Guardians of the Galaxy.
This is one of my favourite tunes of his as I found it particularly suitable for piano and it's such a catchy little number. I pull it through the 3 keys of E, F and F# major and it sounds great in all of them.
I don't add dynamics, pedal markings or fingerings in my notation as I prefer to leave interpretation up to the individual pianist as this is what differentiates one pianist from another. I keep my notations as simple as possible although I do include chord symbols as I find these are very important pieces of information for anyone learning or memorising a tune.
Please note this is a piano solo only and I don't include notation for the other instruments on my YouTube recording. I write all my arrangements as a piano solo first so they function well and sound full as such.
