Product Description

*Silent Night* - beginner piano

The song *Silent Night*, known as *Noite Feliz* in Portuguese, was composed in 1818 in Austria and has a touching story behind its creation. The lyrics were written by Austrian priest **Joseph Mohr** in 1816, while the melody was composed by the organist **Franz Xaver Gruber** in 1818.

The origin of the song is linked to a Christmas event in the town of Oberndorf bei Salzburg. According to the story, the organ of St. Nicholas Church was broken, making it impossible to use the instrument for the Christmas celebration. This prompted Joseph Mohr to ask Franz Gruber to create a simple melody for a poem he had written so that it could be played on the guitar. Thus, *Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht* (the original German title) was performed for the first time at Christmas Mass that year.

*Silent Night* quickly became popular, first in Austria and then throughout Europe, spreading across the world as one of the most iconic Christmas hymns. The lyrics speak of the serenity and peace of Jesus' birth, which resonated with various cultures and traditions, establishing it as a symbol of Christmas in different languages and places.
