This arrangement of "Runaway Baby" was arranged during my time as a University of Oregon student and an active member of the Oregon Athletic Bands. As such, it is frequently performed by the Oregon Basketball Band. The energetic bassline starts in the bari sax, tuba, and electric bass before building throughout the ensemble, ending with the power of the trumpets. The trombones take over the main melody with an optional 8vb from the bass bone before the saxophones and mellophone take over the pre-chorus. The trumpets and high woodwinds take care of the chorus before it drops down to claps from the ensemble and builds throughout the bridge before a key change into the last chorus. The drumset part has multiple grooves written or the drummer can take creative liberty with the beat. There are plently of 16th notes, glisses and rips, and background chords to create lots of energy for your collegiate or high school basketball pep band!
