I submit an arrangement for Band/Wind Ensemble of the exquisite Round Dance of the Princesses from Igor Stravinskys Firebird. This well-known masterpiece features inspired melody, ingenious harmony, endless opportunity for musical expression and ample solo passages. I endeavored to give a taste of all those things to every section of the band. For me, the most significant challenges in Round Dance are playing quietly enough when called upon and incorporating the many subtle changes in tempo. Though I have included cues to cover the piano part, it is my wish that you DO include that instrument; it is an appropriate substitute for the harp that will add an extra bit of color to the performance.
