Product Description

I began writing this piece in February of 2024. It started humbly as just a short trombone eight measure trombone solo, but I knew it had potential to grow. Throughout the eight months I wrote My Joy, this melody would grow and adapt, ultimately becoming a motif in many different styles throughout this nearly six-minute piece. This composition did not have a title for the longest time, only receiving one around late September. I simply referred to it as an untitled work-in-progress, unsure of when or if I'd ever finish it. I believe it is ready now.

Throughout the writing of My Joy I found myself finally being able to express emotions that I thought weren't possible to be described. I am still very young, but I know music is a powerful tool. I hope that all performers pull their own interpretations from this piece and assign their own meaning to it . It should be noted that about eight measures were mistakenly removed and have been lost. This occurred around August. There was also a compound meter section that was removed, although I still have the music for it and may rework it into a new tune.

My Joy consists of many distinct sections:

A mysterious opening with a trombone solo

A more broad fanfare-esque section

A solemn woodwind feature

A light-rock section with a rigorous alto saxophone solo

An emotional conclusion
