Product Description

Actions & Resonances is a stand alone fast movement for piano composed in 2005 when I was a graduate student. The title is abstract, describing the visceral characteristics of the work's sound: crisp, percussive musical gestures interrupted by gentler, resonant chords. The work has influences of modern classical composition with some jazz influenced syncopations, quartal harmonies, and Thelonius Monk-style aggressive interjections. At its conclusion, the work's energy dissipates, the forward rhythmic motion dies away and the percussive gestures disappear, replaced by fragments of earlier motives that dissolve into silence.

This work is now published in dedication to the memory of my friend, Vincent Craig, a brilliant concert pianist and faculty member of piano department at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, who performed this work often during his career.
