Product Description

The first movement of Modest Mussorgsky's 1874 suite, re-orchestrated and condensed into the key of F Major for bass quartet from the original Bb Major piano score version.

In addition to becoming a standard showpiece for virtuoso pianists, this composition became even more widely known with French composer Maurice Ravel's 1922 adaptation for orchestra, and later with the dynamic 1971 rock version by the English band Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.

Recommendations for achieving optimum performance results with this arrangement:

-Dynamics and accents should be exaggerated
-Maximum/minimum volume should match the dynamic range of the human voice
-Amplifier/preamp bass frequency attenuation controls should be flat, even rolled back or switched off
-Carefully tuning to a common perfect fifth (eg. G and D, D and A) is critical
