About the Composer: Emma Louise Ashford (18501930) was a distinguished American organist, composer, and music editor. With over 600 compositions, she made significant contributions to music. She was an editor at Lorenz Publishing Company from 1894 to 1930 and served in various roles as an organist and choir director in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born in Newark, Delaware, Emma began her musical training early, guided by her father. She played pivotal roles in church choirs and held organist positions in multiple churches. Her marriage to John Ashford brought her to Nashville, where she continued her impactful musical career.
