Beethoven's Octet, Opus 103, is an early work in four movements originally scored for pairs of oboes, clarinets, bassoons and horns - a typical wind ensemble of the day. Some time later, Beethoven reworked much of the musical material and used it as the basis for his String Quintet, Opus 04. The second movement of the Octet is arranged here for a standard clarinet quintet.
