Product Description
Birth of the Dragon Nebula is an original composition for Bb clarinet, tuba, piano, and 3 percussionists.
The percussionsists play:
- Crash cymbal, suspended cymbal, temple blocks, triangle, and slapstick
- Bass drum, snare drum, cabaça, and slapstick
- Marimba and glockenspiel
The piece mostly uses spatial-proportional notation with some graphical notation. Whole notes represent sustained notes; black notes represent shorter notes. Each "measure" lasts a specified number of seconds and the notes are played by comparing relative distances. Because of the interconnected nature of this kind of score, everyone performs off the main score. Each performer should have their own copy and this purchase allows printing of all six copies.
If desired, a slideshow of nebulae photos may be added to the performance.
The entire piece lasts about 4.5 minutes.
