This somber setting is meant to be sung during the season of Lent and can be used for funeral services. Saint Veronica is the woman who, in the Sixth Station of the Cross, wiped the face of a scourged Jesus as he carried his cross to the Golgotha where he was to be crucified. The prayerful intent of this Mass setting is to prepare us to take up our crosses and follow Jesus.
