Silent Night is a Christmas classic. This arrangement of it is one of the most hauntingly beautiful. It has an ethereal sound to it that culminates in a glorious conclusion. It was written using a more linear approach, rather than a vertical one. That is, the music is based less on a chord progression and more on separate melodies throughout, more like medieval and early Baroque music. For that reason, some of the intervals and staggered entrances may seem a bit peculiar. There are also a number of instances where the lyrics dont line up; this is another reflection of a much older style of writing choral music. Different parts have the melody at times.
