Famous Austrian-Hungarian operetta composer Franz (Ferenc) Lehár started his career in several positions as military band conductor in the  Austrian-Hungarian army, so he also led the band of the infantry regiment no. 26 located in Vienna, where this waltz arose.   "Gold and Silver" was commissioned by Principessa Pauline von Metternich for a ball in the Vienna "Sophiensäle" in 1902 and was performed  there for the first time as oprning piece. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra. Is was first time  performed by Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburgconducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6th January 2013 in  the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television.
