Product Description

De Barrio Obrero a la Quince, (From the Workers District to Bus Stop 15), for Piano four hands was written in 1986. The work suggests a kind of sonic landscape or imaginary walk through an urban neighborhood in San Juan, Puerto Rico called Santurce, and thats the section that the title of the piece refers too. It also pays homage to Salsa music, not only in the title of the piece but in the various riffs, vamps and the final montuno motive employed.

The basic eight-note motive is developed contrapuntally and is supported at times by rhythmic ostinatos through an array of changing moods, sonorities and street rhythms which echo the hustle and bustle of urban living.
