Product Description

A jazzy arrangement of the well-loved hymn for unaccompanied cello. Key of E flat major.

The hymn "Jesus Paid It All" has an interesting backstory. The lyrics were written by Elvina M. Hall in 1865 during a lengthy sermon. Around the same time, the church organist, John T. Grape, had composed a hymn melody without lyrics and shared it with the pastor, Reverend George Shreck. When Hall shared her poem with the pastor after the service, Reverend Shreck had the idea to combine her poem with Grape's melody. The poem and melody fit together perfectly, and some editing resulted in the beloved hymn we know today.

"Jesus Paid It All" focuses on the theme of Jesus' atoning sacrifice for sin, reminding us of God's grace through the blood of Christ.

This arrangement for unaccompanied cello brings a slightly jazzy feel with a swing rhythm. The melody is intended to be cheerful and joyous, celebrating the freedom we have because of Jesus' sacrifice.
