Product Description

Arranged wind quintet.

Chopin wrote 21 nocturnes for solo piano between 1827 and 1846. They are generally considered among the finest short solo works for the instrument and hold an important place in contemporary concert repertoire. Although Chopin did not invent the nocturne, he popularized and expanded on it, building on the form developed by Irish composer John Field

This is probably Chopin's best loved Nocturne, if not his best known piece.

Unlike other arrangements you may find, my arrangement shares the melody amongst flute, clarinet and oboe.

The horn provides harmony throughout, has one bar of solo, and takes the bass line for a time.

The bassoon provides a mainly sustained bass line, as an impression of the piano pedal, rather than isolated quavers.
I have NOT  simply copied Chopins original quaver figures (in the original left hand piano) but have created an original piece as though it had been composed for wind instruments!

The quintet do NOT play TUTTI all the time: this gives a more interesting and varying sound palette.

ENJOY.
