Product Description

Edelweiss is a small, white flower found high in the Alps. The song "Edelweiss" was written for the 1959 Broadway production "The Sound of Music." In the musical Captain Georg von Trapp sings the song to his family when he rediscovers music with his children. Later on, he sings it with his family as a good-bye to their beloved Austrian homeland. It is a lilting, gentle folk song in 3/4 waltz-time. This version for strings is rather unadorned and unassuming - like unto the delicate beauty of the edelweiss flower. Sometimes, less is more - or just enough.
