It was released as a single everywhere but the U.S. and the UK, and it topped the charts in several countries. When it was issued as a single in the U.S. in 1976, after the Beatles had broken up, it crawled about halfway up the Billboard Hot 100.
Although it's credited to the team of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, McCartney was its composer. Lennon hated it.
