Product Description

The basic music for this setting of the Latin prayer "Ave Maria" is J. S. Bach's "Prelude in C" from his Well-Tempered Clavier of 1722. In 1853 French composer Charles Gounod superimposed the lyrical solo melody and the words. This "Ave Maria" - known as the Bach/Gounod version - is used at Weddings, Masses, Funerals and solemn occasions. In this Trio arrangement, Gounod's beautiful melody is covered entirely by the 2nd Violin!! The 1st Violin instead undulates on a descant, while the Cello & Viola cover the arpeggiated chords from Bach's original work. Give your 2nd Violinist a chance to shine in the limelight for a change! He/she deserves it!
