Hewitt was a 19th Century teacher, poet , and hymnist from Pennsylvania. Also known as Emily D. Wilson, she was a 19th Century pastor's wife and hymnist from Pennsylvania. Sections A and C are the verse. Sections B and D are the refrain. A modulation to a new key occurs towards the end of section B with the aid of a French augmented sixth chord. Then, a descant by yours truly is added beginning at section C.
