There are 16 nationally recognized indigenous ethnic groups containing about 580,000 indigenous peoples in Taiwan. It was academically suggested that their ancestors have been living on Taiwan for 15,000 years.The archaic tune,"Dance for Moon Watching",has been sung for a long time. It was arranged for string quartet by Diau-Hua Lim in 2001 and was performed at
National Recital Hall in Taipei in 2002.The string quartet starts with successive perfect fourth interval and through modulations later to create a feeling of wildness.It was performed by The Heritage String Quartet with great success in the 7th annual Taiwanese Music Festival Honor Concert in Ann Arbor, Michigen, USA in Oct. 2009.
