Product Description

Bonaparte's Retreat is an American old-time fiddle tune dating back to the 1800s. It refers (probably tongue in cheek) to the military defeats of Napoleon Bonaparte, the famed military commander and emperor of France. It remains popular today in the old-time, bluegrass and contra dance repertoires. It is arranged here for a traditional Intermediate String Trio (two violins and cello) to be played for fun, a quick and enjoyable concert encore or as a festival or contest entry. As the music progresses, one can hear the soldiers moving away from the enemy faster and faster.
Separate music sheets for each instrument are provided along with the score.
