Tonada del Lamento - When I start to compose this work I was experimenting with modal harmonies. This is a Venezuelan Tonada from the plains in the style of the composer Simón Díaz, my biggest influence. The poem talks about a cowboy who lose his wife and his family and go across the savannah with a big pain in his heart. I include the chords to accompany with the Venezuelan Cuatro (small four-string folk guitar) for a better interpretation. Lyrics are in Spanish. Performance time: c. 4:00 minutes
