Rebetiko Suita in La Minore

This six-movement suite is in rebetiko style and it starts with an introductory prelude rather than an improvisatory taximi. It also introduces the "Syrtos" rhythm in 2/4 but the main concentration is in the three main rhythms of Rebetiko in Zeibekiko 9/4, Hassapiko 2/4 or 4/4, and Antikristos 9/8.

Two main scales are used throughout, the harmonic and the melodic minor and the order of the six movements is:

1 Preludio
2 Zeibekikos
3 Syrtos
4 Hassapikos 1
5 Hassapikos 2 - (Hassapikos 1 D.C.)
6 Antikristos
