Sir Duke by Steve Wonder for string orchestra or string quartet. This arrangement explores the hooks, grooves, and harmonies of Stevie Wonder! Every instrument plays the iconic hook that makes this tune so memorable. Violins have the main melody, while other instruments are challenged with carrying the harmony and rhythmic elements that a rhythm section typically provides. Low strings are playing transcribed bass lines from the original recording and even have an opportunity to play the melody. After a symphonic-like orchestral build and pedal tone, the groove shifts to a driving quarter note and walking bass line, with a tribute to the original horn parts. Parts are meticulously bowed.
