Paid to Play trumpet duet is one of the most enjoyable duets in our Forty Trumpet Player duets book. It has almost a Latin feel to it, but it never stops being in a classical style.

Having made a major part of my income playing Salsa gigs in the 90s, there is a lot of that clave rhythm in most of my writing. There are hints of that rhythm in Paid to Play trumpet duet.

Paid to Play is four pages long and I read it from my iPad with a foot pedal page turner to record the video. Four pages is just a little out of character for the Trumpet Player skill level, but we didnt want to exclude this very happy duet for only the length.
