Product Description

From the Music of Black Composers Series are these two contrasting works from Coleridge-Taylor's 1905 piano collection of "African and Spiritual Melodies", the playful Bamboula and the dramatic Take Nabandji arranged for a traditional woodwind quintet
of flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon, with alternate parts clarinet in B-flat substitute for oboe, alto saxophone in E-flat substitute for horn, and bass clarinet in B-flat substitute for bassoon. Born of an African father, Coleridge-Taylor was an early 20th century prominent English composer and conductor who was an influential advocate for Black composers. The recording is of the entire edition.
