Scored for a percussion ensemble of ten players, Dave Gwilliams Incantations for Percussion is a marimba-centric ostinato with multiple other themes superimposed over the top.  Incantations requires two marimbas with eight hands along with other standard mallet instruments and a single ride cymbal.

Completed in Centerville, Utah on April 28, 2019, Incantations is ready for performance by any percussion ensemble eager to take on the challenge.

Performance Notes

  • If not careful, this could begin to sound computerized really give it a go with phrasing.
  • Marimbas and Xylophone roll half note or greater.
  • Letter D and letter F the marimba line is a soaring melody that needs to cut through.
