Product Description

Rachmaninov's beautiful All-night Vigil (aka "Songs of the Church") is rarely performed because of its level of difficulty, language, and length. The music is transcendent and perfectly suited for celebrations of the Presentation of the Lord (February 2), evening prayer, and funerals. This selection, No. 5 of 15 in the work, is taken from the 1920 English translation by Winfred Douglas and is well-suited as a solo piece. The choral parts were easily translated into an accompaniment on organ, although piano can be used. The movement is transposed down a fifth and is suited for an alto or bass. This arrangement is also available in Bb minor (original key) and G minor for higher voices. This piece would also work as a unison choir piece.
