Like its namesake, Habañera Sauce (no salt added!), is a hot, new, composition for 3-part

string orchestra and piano. Composed for violin 1, violin 2/ viola, cello/ bass and piano, is in

the key of D major, 4/4 time uses pizz and arco and even pizz and arco together for a different

color. Students are introduced to Allegro(120 bpm), 1st/ 2nd endings, p and f dynamics

and only uses notes D-A in all instruments. It introduces multi-measure rests in all parts and

uses quarters, half notes, quarter rests and simple 2-part harmony and a bass line.

Suggested Grade: .5/ 1 (as soon as they know D-A).
