Liszt's Consolations is a set of six solo piano works known for their enchantingly lyrical and poetic nature. They express Liszt's genuine religious mysticism and are composed in either the key of E or D major, each with a distinctive style. These pieces are considered relatively easy to play and appreciated for their serene sweetness and melancholic characteristics. They take the musical style of Nocturnes, with the third Consolation being an homage to Chopin's nocturnes. Liszt's ability to bring out the melody notes and subdue the harmony is necessary in interpreting these pieces.
