About the work:

Based on a folk song, whose text can be traced as far back as 1781, Der Treue Husar tells the story of a young soldier and his girl who are both deeply in love with each other.

This arrangement is predominantly based on Heinrich Frantzens military-style march of the same name, which was published in 1924 for the Cologne Carnival. To this day, it still remains the most popular version of the song, and is regularly performed at Oktoberfest celebrations around the world.
