From the 1982 Francis Ford Coppola film, "One From the Heart", originally performed by Crystal Gayle, "Take Me home" consisted of a verse and chorus. It's a sweet, and brief sentiment expressed with Waits' incisive lyrics and wonderful sense of melody, but as a brief sequence in the film, it just doesn't make much of a song to perform. This arrangement extends the song by starting with a verse set for a male voice, followed by a verse set for a female, whereupon both join over an active background to sing a duet for the final chorus and conclusion.

Having the male and female soloist opens some dramatic possibilities your audiences will enjoy. It can be sung as a love duet, or it the two may not interact at all, but simply make the same statement from two different perspectives.
