Little Big Band / Small Jazz Orchestra - Grade 4
This my arrangement of Charlie Parker's Blues For Alice was created respecting the most typical jazz tradition.
After a brief introduction, the exposition and the usual solos, for the development part (special) I used the author's original solo, harmonizing it and proposing it in its entirety albeit with some inevitable simplifications.
To try to make it more interesting both to listen to and to perform, I distributed the melodic line between the different instruments which, from time to time, alternate as protagonists or accompanists.
This is then followed by the Drum solo, a final exposition of the theme and, finally, a very short Coda.
The instrumentation is the standard one of a Little Big Band, with 3 saxophones (Alto, Tenor and Baritone), 2 Trumpets, 1 Trombone, Guitar, Piano, Bass and Drums.
Furthermore, thanks to the typical replacement parts (Alternate: Alto Sax, Trumpet 2, Trombone, Baritone Sax) and 3 additional parts (Added: Flute, Trumpet 3 and Tenor Saxophone 2), it is possible to vary and expand the standard starting lineup by enriching the 'organic but without interfering with the initial characteristics of the arrangement.
The ensemble thus open and remodeled according to needs, should allow the arrangement to be adapted to any type of band available: scholastic, amateur or professional.
Unfortunately the audio I was able to create was obtained through the sounds which are synthetic midi, therefore not particularly captivating, but I imagine it is clear that the purpose of this video is simply to illustrate the arrangement in all its parts without any other ambitions.
I hope, in the future, to be able to create this and other scores with real musicians, so as to offer more truthful and more exciting versions of the arrangements that I propose.
