Product Description

A beloved Christmas tune, It Came Upon A Midnight Clear was a poem & carol written in 1849 by Edmund Sears, with music written by Richard Storrs Willis. Sears wrote the hymn while serving as a part-time preacher. Writing during a period of personal melancholy, and with news of revolution in Europe and the United States' war with Mexico fresh in his mind, Sears portrayed the world as dark, full of "sin and strife", and not hearing the Christmas message.

This arrangement features chorale and jazz renditions of the tune that is sure to keep the audience engaged, with an optional section for members of the group to improvise. Great for holiday concerts!
