Product Description

Danse Bacchanale is taken from the 19th-century opera Samson and Delilah by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. The opera tells the story of the Biblical account of Samson and Delilah from the book of Judges. Samson has been given unnatural strength and has become a mortal enemy of the Babylonians. Delilah seeks to seduce Samson in an effort to get him to reveal the source of his strength, allowing the Babylonians to capture and humiliate him.

The Danse Bacchanale represents this interaction between Samson and Delilah, telling the story of their relationship, the seduction, and the eventual capture. It ends with the bacchanale, a wildly celebratory dance.
