Carter was a 19th Century pastor, physician, writer, and hymnist from Pennsylvania.Scriptual texts this was based on are Joshua 21:45, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 2:25, among others. Sections A and C are the verses. Section B and D are the chorus. A modulation to a new key occurs at the end of section B with the aid of an Italian augmented sixth chord. Section C then includes a descant by your truly.
